Codices. Anales de Tecamachalco (Codice indigena, 1399-1590), filed as G2 Ms., is a Nahuatl chronology of events from 1399 to 1590. Fragment of Aztec manuscript, 1520 (G8 Ms.), written in Spanish on native paper, is an illustrated account of the conquest of Mexico by Hernán Cortés. Codex book of tribute (G24 Ms.) is a map depicting parcels of land; it includes measurements, place signs, and place names. Written in Aztec hieroglyphs with occasional Nahuatl words, it is the third fragment of the Codice de las posesiones de Don Andrés and dates from the 16th century. Codice indígena, libro de tributos (G30 Ms.), dated ca. 1550, is a pictorial register, in Aztec hieroglyphs and pictograms with Spanish text, of payments of tribute by Mexico City barrios. Codice indígena, 1564-1565 (G42 Ms.), in Nahuatl text with monetary symbols and occasional Spanish words, consists of receipts for payments to Indian officials of the native government of Mexico-Tenochtitlán. Pintura del pueblo de Tecpatepec (Record of expenses kept by Indian scribe), dated ca. 1570 and filed as G71 Ms., represents in drawings expenses paid to Spanish officials. The drawings are accompanied by Spanish text and a few lines in Nahuatl.
